WHO IS HE?
Serron Noel is a 20-year-old forward who the Florida Panthers drafted in the second round, 34th overall, in 2018. After four productive junior hockey seasons with Oshawa and Kitchener of the Ontario Hockey League, where he totaled 202 points (88g, 114a) in 241 career games, the native of Ottawa is poised to turn pro. He has represented Canada at the junior level, most recently tying for the team lead with six points (2g, 4a) in five games during the 2018 U18 World Junior Championship.WHAT KIND OF PLAYER IS HE?
A 6-foot-5, 205 pound power forward, Noel also has speed and skill to match his size.WHAT HAPPENED LAST SEASON?
Noel joined Kitchener in a mid-season trade from Oshawa, where he had played the entirety of his three previous OHL seasons. He finished the campaign with 47 points (18g, 29a) in 48 games, which, while an excellent scoring pace on its own, was a little slower than the career-best 81 points he posted in 68 games the season prior. He missed an opportunity to go on a playoff run with Kitchener when the season ended in March.WHAT DOES HE SAY?
"I look at Wayne Simmonds, how powerful and dominant he was and how much fear he made other players scared of him every night," Noel, who also compared his style of play to Tom Wilson, told the Panthers’ official website. "It's pretty incredible… They obviously play a really hard game, and I kind of want to model myself a little bit after that. But I also think that I have a lot of offensive potential as well. I think I can be a goal scorer in the league as well."WHAT’S A FUN FACT ABOUT HIM?
His father, Dean Noel, was a running back in the Canadian Football League.CAN I SEE SOME HIGHLIGHTS?
